New Installations

1. When installing into 'new' work the core holes are drilled into a slab, or footing.
2. The cores are removed, cleaned, (usually hosed out) and dried with a heat gun.
3. The glass sheets are turned 'bottom up' and the clamps are assembled onto them with the two insulating tubes (one in each hole in the glass), 11 shims (6 one side and 5 the other), and the 8mm of packers set between the clamp and the glass. The two bolts through the glass are inserted and tightened ensuring that the clamp is at right angles to the glass sheet. Cover plates are then fitted if required.

4. The glass sheets are then picked up and placed on preset timber and 'packer' height blocks, and the clamps held in approximate position with pre-cut wedges or props.
5. When all the sheets are set the height is adjusted first using 'packers' between the blocks and the glass. Accuracy of +, -, ½ mm is quite easy to achieve. The longitudinal gaps are then set and finally the lateral alignment is adjusted using the wedges and the props. All sheets must be plumb both laterally and longitudinally.
6. Megapoxy is then poured into the holes as per instructions. WARNING. The Megapoxy is highly reactive to moisture. The heat generated will turn water to steam and blow the Megapoxy out of the hole. Dry each hole with a heat gun prior to installation. The working time for Megapoxy is about 10 minutes depending on temperature so only mix what can be used in that time.
7. The Megapoxy should attain 90% strength in 2 hours. Course dry sand should be sprinkled on top of the Megapoxy to provide a bond for the final grout if required.
8. The strength of the clamp allows the gate to be hinged directly off the glass without the need for any posts. We recommend the Dorma infloor gate operator system.
9. Should adjustments need to be made after the epoxy has set this can be carried out by adjusting the shims and packers.

Please note: The processes above require special tools and skilled operation. Please contact our office for more information.

Existing Installations

The actual installation is the same as for new. However in some cases there may not be concrete under the pavers or surface finish. In this case the clamp positions should be marked out and a small section removed and a suitable concrete footing installed. The pavers are then replaced and when concrete is cured the clamps are core drilled in the same as for new work.
